Our identity in Christ is foundational to our faith and understanding of who we truly are. When we come to know Jesus, we are no longer defined by our past mistakes, failures, or the labels the world gives us. Instead, we become new creations in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17), which means our old selves, along with our sin and shame, are gone. We now live in the light of His grace, and God sees us as righteous because of Jesus’ sacrifice. Being “in Christ” means we are adopted into God’s family, called His children (John 1:12), and heirs to His promises. This new identity frees us from the need to seek approval from others or feel unworthy. Instead, we rest in the truth that we are loved, chosen, and called with purpose by God.
Living in this identity also empowers us. As believers, we are more than conquerors (Romans 8:37), meaning that through Christ, we can overcome the trials and challenges we face. Our worth is no longer based on what we do or what others think of us, but on what Christ has already done. This truth should shape how we view ourselves, how we treat others, and how we approach life. Knowing we are forgiven, redeemed, and filled with His Spirit gives us the confidence to live boldly, embracing the freedom and joy that comes with being a child of God.
