Positive confession is a biblical principle that reminds us of the power of speaking God’s Word over our lives. The Bible teaches that our words carry weight—they can bring life or destruction. Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” This isn’t just about being positive; it’s about aligning our words with God’s truth. When we declare God’s Word in faith, we invite His power into our situations. The Word of God is living and active (Hebrews 4:12), and when we speak it, it’s not just empty words—God Himself joins His power with our confession to bring about change. He’s waiting for us to declare His promises so He can move on our behalf.
Sadly, the concept of positive confession has been twisted by new age teachings. While they’ve adopted the idea that words have power, they’ve removed Jesus from the equation and replaced God’s truth with self-reliance. New age practices may promote affirmations or manifesting, but they miss the point: the power isn’t in us or our words alone—it’s in God’s Word. Isaiah 55:11 says, “So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” When we speak His Word, we partner with Him, and situations start to shift according to His will.
Even angels respond to the words we speak. Psalm 103:20 tells us, “Praise the Lord, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word.” Angels are messengers and servants of God who act on His Word. When we declare God’s promises, angels are empowered to carry out His will in our lives. However, when our words are negative, filled with doubt, or contradict God’s truth, it’s as if their hands are tied. They cannot act on words that don’t align with God’s Word. This is why it’s so important to speak life, hope, and faith based on Scripture.
Through confessing the Word of God, we not only align ourselves with God’s promises but also activate the spiritual forces He has placed to work on our behalf. ~Kimberly @ God's Healing Power Radio Ministry.
