Opposites

When I was a school teacher, sometimes the kids would have what they called "Opposites Day." They would say everything on the flip-side, dress backwards and generally just do everything that was contrary to the norm.

So let's have an Opposites Day here today. In scripture, there are SO many conditional promises...IF>THEN statements. IF you do this, THEN this will happen. The opposites of these statements are ALSO TRUE, so if we look at them in a different light on the flip-side, perhaps we can see the original scriptures more clearly and appreciate them in a new way.

Here we go... and remember that these statements are as TRUE as the original...

Romans 10:9 OPPOSITE:"...if you (do not) confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord', and (do not) believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will (not)be saved." ORIGINAL: "...if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord', and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

John 13:35 OPPOSITE: "By this all men will know that you are (not) my disciples, if you (do not) love one another." ORIGINAL: "By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

Luke 17:6 OPPOSITE: "If you (do not) have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it will (not) obey you." ORIGINAL: "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it will obey you."

John 15:14 OPPOSITE: "You are (not) my friends if you do (not do) what I command." ORIGINAL: "You are my friends if you do what I command."

Matthew 21:22 OPPOSITE: "If you (do not) believe, you will (not) receive whatever you ask for in prayer." ORIGINAL: "If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."

Psalm 91:9-10 OPPOSITE: "If you (do not) make the Most High your dwelling – even the LORD, who is my refuge – then harm will befall you, and disaster will come near your tent." ORIGINAL: "If you make the Most High your dwelling – even the LORD, who is my refuge – then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent."

2 Chron. 7:14 OPPOSITE: "IF My people, who are called by My name, will (not) humble themselves, and (not) pray, and (not) seek My face, and (not) turn from their wicked ways; THEN will I (not) hear from Heaven and (not) heal their Land.” ORIGINAL: "IF My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; THEN will I hear from Heaven and heal their Land.”

Quite sobering, isn't it? When we look at things from a different perspective, it drives the point home a little further...
