Lets Get It Right

There is so much misinformation in the church today. Every church teaches something different, it seems. And many are just making up their own Gospel. Yes, true. After 28 years in ministry, I have seen it all.

I keep running across posts that say that women should be silent and we are not to preach, or teach or evangelize. Basically, shut up! This is the result of not understanding how to interpret scripture in light of other scripture and not understanding the context. It's merely ignorance of the Word. Some people get so stuck on one scripture that they completely ignore the TOTALITY of scripture and what that scripture really means.

God loves women and equipped us to do what Jesus did. We are a part of Him, and He lives in us. We are seated with him in heavenly places. We are to lay hands on the sick and see them recover. And everything listed in Mark 16:17-18. He gave men and women the authority to "trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy..." We are called to "Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching." And so much more...

Paul was a supporter of women! Paul told Timothy to silence false teachers. Whether male or female. There is nothing that silenced GODLY women to teach or to use their calling and gifts.

"God has used His Body, including women, to speak to the world throughout history. There isn't one category of ministry in the Word from which He has universally prohibited women to participate." (Loren Cunningham)

This is a very long and intense study. I highly recommend these books that will help to break down all of the difficult passages that are being misused, and show us the context, history, root words, and totality of scripture.

Why Not Women? by Cunningham and Hamilton

When Women Were Priests by Torjesen

Who Said Woman Can't Teach? by Trombley

I will leave you with this...

Me: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

My Husband: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

There is no difference in those passages. It does not matter who voices them to the world.... they come from God.

"There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus."
