He Sent His Word

Psalm 107:20 is one of my favorite passages from the Bible.

"He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions."

It's not only important to read the Word that we see on the pages, but it is also important to study them and see what they mean. I always say that the Bible is ten levels deep and we have to dig in order to find revelation and for the Word to mean something to us personally. We have to not only give the Bible a cursory exam, but a thorough investigation.

Let's dig...

He SENT... From the root word, shalach - to loose; to stretch out; to direct; to set free

His WORD... From the root word, dabar - utterance; commandment

HEALED them... From the root word, rapha - to make healthful; to cure; physician

And DELIVERED them... From the root word, malat - to rescue; slip away; escape

From their DESTRUCTIONS... From the root word, shĕchiyth - pit; pit fall

So... what does Psalm 107:20 now mean to you??

This is what it means to me: The Lord looses His Word from heaven. (Remember Jesus "loosing" the woman in the temple from the spirit of infirmity?) This utterance... this commandment from the Lord Himself reaches me and cures me and brings my health back to me, and as the Great Physician, helps me to escape from the pit so that the pit does not swallow me up.

Isn't this a truly wonderful promise from the Lord??!!
