I have an important word for all of us today...
As we look around, we see Christians who are not enjoying the fruit of the Word. They are struggling, having the same or sometimes worse troubles than the world.
Jesus talks about the parable of the sower in Mark 4. He speaks of 4 different kinds of ground, and they each represent different groups of people.
Group 1: Hard, uncultivated ground by the wayside. They heard the Word, but did not let it in their heart so that it could take root and grow.
Group 2: Stony ground. These people heard the Word, but received it in a shallow way. Superficial. So when persecution and pressure came, they were offended and let go of the Word that they heard.
Group 3: Thorny ground. This group had overcrowded hearts...worldly desires and worries and so the Word they heard was choked and became unfruitful.
Group 4: Good grounded group. These people were different. They not only heard the Word but RECEIVED it and did not let go. Bulldog tenacity. They embraced it. The Word became a part of them.
If we want to enjoy the fruit of His Word in our lives and to live the abundant life that He wants for us, we need to be part of Group 4. We have to be good receivers, which first begins with abiding in Him, and BELIEVING what He has to say. To be good receivers of God's Word we must put forth the effort it takes to find out what God has said.
Don't just rely on a pastor to teach you the Bible truths. Let your fingers do the walking in the Bible and find out for yourself...
