Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. ~ James 4:7
1. Submit. From the root word, hypotassō. To subject one's self, obey. To yield to one's admonition or advice.
2. Resist. From the root word, anthistēmi. To set one's self against.To withstand, resist, oppose.
God is giving us instructions! There are two points to heed. SUBMIT AND RESIST. THEN... as a result, the enemy will RUN.
Case in point. Satan came at Jesus and tempted Him. With each of his lies, Jesus RESISTED by telling him, IT IS WRITTEN... and then quoted God's Word. The Bible says that satan left him... for a season.
Jesus was under authority and USING HIS AUTHORITY, delegated by God. He was first SUBMITTED. He then RESISTED verbally. The result??? Satan left him. But it important to note that satan left "for a season" and he was going to return at some point. He always does! That's why we have to be on guard and be ready to counter punch.
Sometimes it may take a lot of counter punches to get him to back off. It's not always one and done. One lady I heard giving her testimony was plagued with asthma symptoms for 30 years. She took daily preventative meds, inhalers, treatments, etc. When she finally received the BIBLE KNOWLEDGE she needed and followed God's instructions, she decided enough was enough and told the enemy, IT IS WRITTEN. She hit him with a counter punch.
When he tried to put that junk back on her again, she hit him even harder. She stood in her authority and on the promises of God that SHE WAS HEALED and that satan was illegally trespassing on a child of God. She has been free from asthma ever since.
What are you putting up with? How long are you going to allow the enemy to oppress you, kick you, inflict you and lie to you? Don't be afraid! Greater is God in you than satan in the world. Remember that. God's got your back. Get this down into your spirit and SOUL. You have all the help from heaven offered for you.... You just have to follow His instructions...
SUBMIT. RESIST >>>>>>>> Satan FLEES!!!!!
AMEN!
