Accept Me As I Am

Food for thought today.... I often hear the phrase, "Just accept me as I am." I want to make 2 points about this sentiment.

1. Yes, God accepts us just as we are .... in the condition we are now. He loves us unconditionally! BUT... he does not want us to stay in our present condition. He wants us to renew our minds daily and to rise to a higher standard in the way we live our lives. Everyday we should have a desire to be more like Him. Staying "just the way we are" is a laziness mentality and keeps us "lukewarm". Nobody ever achieved greatness by being lukewarm. Dreams die in the bed of neutrality.

2. Of course we must "accept" the FACT that we are all different. We have different tastes...different looks...different thoughts...different skills and abilities. That's what makes life interesting! We should never "accept", however, any negativity or abuse that comes from another person. I do not accept or "receive" from another anything that is contrary to God's Word. Name calling, anger, hateful words that curse, put downs, ridicule, bullying, just to name a few. We need to have enough of Christ in us to allow those things to flow like water off a duck's back. Knowing who we are in Christ...as a child of the Most High... allows us to rise ABOVE what any person on this earth or any demonic force can do to us.

So....who are we in Christ?? This list is long, but I hope it helps someone today to realize who you really are... ~Kimberly @ God's Healing Power Radio Ministry.
