What To Do When You Just Don’t Know
What To Do!
By Pastor Kimberly Lemler
So often in life we are faced with situations that seem
impossible. We can’t decide what steps to take, or how to go about resolving
the issues that are before us. I have
five points I would like to share with you today on how to know “what to do
when you just don’t know what to do”. These
will help to strengthen you and provide you with Godly wisdom in the situations
you are facing.
1.
Fear Not. The very first emotion that erupts when we
face a situation of the unknown is fear. Sometimes it can be a feeling of panic, or of
free falling. Where there is fear there
is confusion. The Greek word for fear in
the New Testament is “deilos” and it means “to dread”; and “being faithless”.
Fear uses torment to affect our minds and bodies, causing mental and physical
disease. There are at least forty diseases listed in medical textbooks that
result from anxiety and stress. Our fear
gives satan a foothold into our lives.
It tells God that He is powerless and that satan rules. For a believer
who faces problems, our relationship with God has given us the ability to
successfully deal with fear. We submit to
God, resist the devil, and he, who brings a spirit of fear, will flee.
Don’t allow fear to throw your life into a mess. Profess your FAITH in God and your trust in
His ability to bring you through any situation.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous:
but the LORD delivers him out of them
all. – Psalm 34:19
2.
Seek God’s Face. Keep Your Eyes On Him And
Not The Circumstances. When Jesus
and His disciples were going to go across the water in a boat, Jesus said, “We
are going to the other side.” Those
words alone out of His mouth should have been enough to squelch any fears. But
during that boat ride, the wind and the waves were an obstacle and Peter only
saw the circumstances. He could not keep his gaze upon the Lord, who was His
source of supernatural power.
Circumstances or the conditions are always screaming at us in the
natural and it’s so easy to only look at these, but if we can look past them
and set our focus on the Lord, then we will make it to the other side.
Hebrews 12 says, “Looking to Jesus,
the author and finisher of our faith” and in Matthew 6:33 it says, “But seek
first the Kingdom of God and His
righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
3.
Ask Him
For Wisdom. Our own wisdom during times of crises just isn’t going to cut
it. Only God sees the end from the beginning. Only He knows the road that lies
ahead and what’s around every turn. Therefore we must rely on His power and
ability to guide us through the maze of difficulties that arise when we are
faced with challenging situations.
“Wisdom is sweet to
your soul; if you find it, there is a future hope for you, and your hope will
not be cut off.” - Proverbs 24:14
4.
Confess
the Word and Hold Fast. I teach all
the time about the importance of speaking God’s Word. His Word is powerful when
we are in agreement with Him and we put His Word on our lips. No matter what our situation we must speak
God’s Word about it. If you are facing sickness, find all of the healing
scriptures and pray them back to God. If you are facing financial problems,
find all the scriptures pertaining to money and prosperity and start confessing
so that He can see your faith. Whatever
you are dealing with, God has an answer and He wants you to agree with Him so
that He can bring it to pass in your life.
“Let us hold fast the profession
of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised ;).”-Hebrews
10:23
5. Rejoice
and Thank God! When Paul and Silas
were thrown into prison and facing a terrible situation, they began to sing
praises to God and the rest of the prisoners heard them. In Acts 16 it says, “Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so
that the foundations of the prison were shaken and immediately all the doors
were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed”. What caused the chains to fall off? Praising
the Lord despite the circumstances! What will cause your spiritual chains of
bondage to fall off in your situation? Praising the Lord and giving Him thanks!
Thank Him for who He is and what He has already done for you on the cross.
Thank Him for His promises. Thank Him that your name is written in the Lamb’s
Book of Life. Thank Him for the answer that is already on its way to you, even
though you have not yet seen it.
No matter
what mountain you are facing, the Bible says that we can speak to these
mountains and they will be removed. You will overcome. You will see victory if
you: Fear
Not; Seek His Face; Ask For Wisdom; Confess His Word; and Rejoice!!!
